AUTODESK VRED 2016 Tutorial

If you are working with Autodesk VRED 2016 or with AUTODESK VRED DESIGN 2016, some of the features explained in this tutorial, will not be available. For a product comparison and an overview of the available features per product, see: Product Comparison

Note: A major difference for users of AUTODESK VRED 2016 is the fact, that AUTODESK VRED 2016 does not support the Open GL render mode. Consequently, rendering is always in ray tracing mode. Nevertheless, the steps explained in this tutorial can still be excercised. Only the output in the render windows will constantly be in ray tracing mode.

Navigation and Selection in the AUTODESK VRED Render Window

  • Hold the left mouse button in the render window to rotate the view.
  • Scroll the scroll wheel or hold the right mouse button in the render window to zoom the view.
  • Hold the middle mouse button or hold Ctrl + left mouse button in the render window to pan the view.
  • Hold Shift + click left mouse button on an object in the render window to select an object.
  • Hold Shift + hold left mouse button + drag from top left to bottom right: objects fully enclosed in the frame are selected.
  • Hold Shift + hold left mouse button + drag from bottom right to top left: objects partially enclosed in the frame are selected.
  • Hold Shift + hold Ctrl + click left mouse button on an object in the render window to add objects to the selection.
  • Hold Shift + hold Ctrl + click right mouse button on an object in the render window to remove objects from the selection.
  • Hold Shift + click left mouse button in an empty space or hold Shift + hold Ctrl + press A to clear the selection.
  • Double click left mouse button on an object to set the pivot point.
  • Double click right mouse button on an object to set the pivot point and center the view.
